This warming tea is perfect on a cold or rainy day, or any day really. It's delicious, and easy to make.
Chai tea has many health benefits due to its infusion of spices - cinnamon is good for circulation, cardamom for the lungs and kidneys, cloves are beneficial for their antiseptic qualities, black pepper supports metabolism and can alleviate colds, star anise is an excellent cough remedy, and ginger stimulates the immune system. Almost every system in the body is strengthened with this tea, making it a wonderful preventative.
This recipe serves 3 and all amounts are approximate. Just guess away and modify to your liking. As always, prepare while holding only good thoughts in mind. :P
Place the following ingredients in a small pot and bring to a boil:
- 1tsp cardamom pods, crushed in mortar - 1tsp whole cloves
- 1tbsp whole star anise - 1 tbsp grated ginger
- 3 cinnamon quills - 4 cups water
Remove from heat, and add the following ingredients to taste:
- Black Tea - Honey - Milk
Strain through a sieve, breathe deep and enjoy!
