Mind opening and heart expanding, festivals promote loving thy neighbor and allowing the light inside of you to recognize and acknowledge the light inside of them. Whether you are spiritual or religious, straight edge or experimental, conservative or liberal the common goal is the same: to attain pure love and happiness. My hope is that the aspects of this "hippy" culture continue to penetrate mainstream society and that people can become more conscious, more aware that they are creatures of infinite potential and that life is so much deeper than day jobs and daily distractions. Money is important but it's all relative and we sure as hell don't "need" as much as we think we do. Greed is a catalyst for destruction. If we can continue to find importance in culture, acceptance of diversity, put more time and effort into maintaining the health of our bodies and minds and feel more connection to our planet, then we will continue to move forward.
Be grateful for the gifts in your life, big and small, and never stop working on the ongoing battle of self awareness, acceptance and forgiveness. Take time to maintain balance by recognizing what is lacking in your life, whether connecting with your creative side, opening your mind to new ideas and trying new things, or working on self discipline and responsibility. Slow down if that's what you need. Breathe and meditate. Or get off your ass and do something, anything, just force yourself to do it and I guarantee you'll feel good. It's incredible what can become of your life when you take the time to think, explore, question, and put your thoughts, dreams and goals into action. We really do manifest our reality. Every hardship has a lesson and opportunity for growth and every great experience strengthens who you are. If you're in a funk, it will get better. The mind is powerful enough to change your perception of reality. If you're doing well, ask yourself what you can do to make yourself MORE amazing with the energy that you have at the moment. How can you help others? How can you inspire people? I am so grateful to Lighning in a Bottle and all of the other festivals that promote the message of connection, transformation, and celebration of the magnificence of humanity.
Thank God and the Universe for the incredibly kind, massively intelligent, hilarious, endlessly creative, weird, passionate and inspirational people in my life, everyone from strangers to family members to soul mates, that constantly guide me and never cease to amaze me. Just imagine, if we reminded ourselves daily and lived our lives by the messages that these festivals advocate, how different the world would be.
LOVE yourself because YOU are DIVINE.
