Frank Kitts Park (wet weather venue to be confirmed)
Suggested Donation/Koha $10. All proceeds go to the Yoga in Prisons Trust, a NZ-based organization of volunteer yoga teachers who teach yoga & meditation to prisoners.
In commemoration of International Peace Day (21 Sept), Wellington’s 3rd annual Global Mala event will focus on Unity in Diversity--on moving, breathing & sounding together for Peace. All schools, styles, teachers & students of yoga & meditation are welcome & encouraged to converge. We will co-create peace by participating in 108 Sun Salutations &/or 108 Aums &/or holding the space through Meditation, Mantra or Music. All levels of experience are welcome & there will be a modified-practice area as well as a kids’ practice area.
We'll have an outer ring of meditators, holding the space. Moving within the meditators will be an 8 limbed wheel of (at least) 108 yogis & their teachers, all held together by the centre-piece of music, mantra & meditation leaders. On the outskirts of this wheel, will be the broader community of food, product & service suppliers to support participants before & after the practice & those passing by. Our aim is to make yoga more visible & accessible by being outside (weather permitting) & setting an atmosphere of participation & community.
Show up. Breathe. Move. Make a sound. Share the space. Encourage & embrace consciousness.
